Background
Aleksandr Loginov is the proud owner of a saltwater fish and corals store in Odessa, Ukraine called The Reef.
The Reef store, founded in 2009, was the culmination of over a decade of experience in the marine aquarium industry. Over these years, the store's team amassed invaluable expertise, knowledge, and skills in the care and maintenance of marine aquatic organisms in domestic settings.
After facing challenges of running a reef aquarium during an ongoing war, with multiple energy shutdowns, LED lighting solutions and a generator were installed and these remarkable resilient reef aquariums, burden with all these electrical instabilities, once again began to thrive.

Orphek LED lighting solutions were installed over the tanks to reduce energy consumption, bring stability to the tanks and provide growth, health, color, spawning and biological clock correction.
Aleksandr stunning 9 yrs old private reef tank
Aleksandr is also a long time reefer and he owns a 9 yrs old tank in his home which takes center stage in today's post.
The tank's layout is meticulously crafted to achieve the most natural appearance, allowing corals to grow freely and overlap, mirroring the organic beauty of nature. Within the aquarium, you'll find rare and costly mushroom corals, alongside numerous high-end species. We're delighted to present videos that showcase their exquisite beauty for your delight.
Info about the Aleksandr private aquarium
This awesome trapezoidal aquarium, measures 205cm in length, 47cm in width at one end, 80cm in width at the other end, and stands at a height of 80cm.
Equipments: A&C300xxlQ skimmer/ A&C600 calcium rector the sump. (These are all Ukrainian-made).
SLW30 2 pcs/ SOW 15 2pcs/ SOW20/ CP40 (all Jebao).
ATO Siemens/ return JEBAO DCS9000.
Lighting project
MG +T5s were replaced by 2 units of Atlantik iCon were combined with one unit of Atlantik iCon Compact and Orphek OR3 LED Bars 150 Blue plus/ 150 Sky blue / 90 Blue plus for supplemental coral color vibrancy, promote health and growth, enhance fluorescent colors, and optimize photosynthesis.
As Alexandr explains:
"The aquarium has the shape of a trapezoid and, moreover, over these 9 years it has been heavily overgrown, so the issue of lighting is very significant and very complex. The lights are arranged in such a way as to cover the entire surface of the aquarium as much as possible. Just as large colonies shade both themselves and their neighbors... I also want to say a few words about the flow system in the aquarium. Well, the aquarium is very overgrown. In addition, he is quite tall, he has 70 cm and it is quite difficult to blow through, so there are five PUMP currents here...The flow pump is located on both sides. Well, all the pumps that we use right up to the supply pumps and pumps in the skimmers."
And about the corals he adds: "they have been in the same place for 9 years now. Coral colonies have dramatically changed over the years."
Unleashing vibrant coral colors

One of the most remarkable aspects of this reef tank is the vibrant colors exhibited by corals. Thanks to the Atlantik iCon and OR3 LED Bars, it has achieved a stunning array of hues that captivate the eye.
The spectrums provided by the Atlantik iCon is instrumental in enhancing coral coloration. This carefully designed spectrum promotes the production of pigments like chlorophyll and carotenoids, which are responsible for the vivid and natural coloration seen in these corals. From cool blue and green hues, striking intense purples, the color palette on display is simply breathtaking.
Enhancing the tank's lighting setup with 2 units of Atlantik iCon, combined with its smaller version, the Atlantik iCon Compact, and complementing spectrums with additional units of Orphek OR3 LED Bars 150 Blue plus/ 150 Sky blue / 90 Blue plus. has definitely upgraded the aquarium, amplifying coral color vibrancy. By adding Orphek OR3 Blue Plus LED Bars the aquarium receives an Incredible widest Blue / violet fluorescent spectrum.
The Blue/Violet spectrum 400-500nm for SPS/LPS/Soft renders the boost of coral growth and wide fluorescent coral pop. [Maximum absorption of Chlorophyllc2 (the most common form of chlorophyll c) is achieved around 447nm].
The wavelengths of the Blue Sky spectrum are important in zooxanthellae photosynthesis – chlorophylls a and c2 utilize blue. Beta-carotene 470nm is a photopigment found in at least some zooxanthellae. It also acts as a protective antioxidant agent.
